YOU AND YOUR BIKE
By law you will be required to
wear a safety helmet which meets British Standard Institute (BSI) requirements,
(or EU equivalent)
We have a number of additional requirements:
- Your helmet must be marked as BSI approved (or EU equivalent)
- You must have BSI approved eye protection (or EU equivalent)
- You must be wearing a pair of protective gloves
- You must be wearing appropriate footwear
- You must be in a fit condition to operate a motorcycle
We reserve the right for an instructor,
or the Training Scheme, to decline to instruct you. We will give you an explanation
of this decision.
Your Bike
Some people choose to use their own bike when training, as opposed to hiring one of ours. This has many advantages including:
- - If you already own the bike, or intend to keep it for some time after passing the test, it can save you money by avoiding the hire charges
- You will be (or become) familiar with the bike
- And probably the biggest benefit, you'll be able to gain experience between lessons
If you do choose to use your own bike, then we have certain requirements that you need to meet:
- You must be legally entitled to ride the bike
- The bike must be appropriate for the type of training you've selected
- It must be insured for you to ride
- It must have a current MOT certificate if over three years old
- It must be roadworthy and road legal
- It must have correctly displayed 'L'- plates to front and rear
- It must be correctly displaying a current Tax disc
